It's Wonderful, It's Marvelous

Charles started bopping along to Matthew Broderick singing and dancing to the Gershwin song "It's Wonderful, It's Marvelous." He was entranced. At the end, when the TV audience clapped for him and his co-star, Charles started clapping, too.

Blueberries

Charles spotted William eating blueberries for lunch and decided he wanted some, too. He grabbed the bowl and tried to grab some berries. I figured he was showing an interest, so let's see. I cut them in quarters (these were huge berries!), and wolfed them down! Yum!

Dinosaur Chicken & cottage cheese

Charles celebrated his 9 month birthday on Friday by stealing a dinosaur chicken and eating it!  I guess he is ready for table foods, even without any teeth!  He loved it!  This morning, we went to breakfast for William's birthday, and Charles had another new food: cottage cheese!  Yum!  He gobbled it up!

New foods

Charles loves eating paper and cardboard, so I thought he might like toast. What a messy hit! He ate it all afternoon, but I think half of it became little pieces of soggy bread mush that had to be cleaned up, but it is better than paper!

For dinner, in addition to cut up bananas that he has eaten before and loves, Charles ate peas! He opened his mouth like a little bird! Unfortunately peas can be tough to keep in a baby mouth--especially a baby mouth with no teeth.

Mother's Day

So big!

I am truly amazed watching Charles!  He climbs stairs so easily--and can even do so with toys in his hands!  It's funny to watch him as he swings his toy just the right way to get it up to the next step--such a problem solver!

He is also standing for a couple of seconds at a time.  And his teeth are finally getting ready to come in.  Poor little swollen gums are giving him problems, but he is just about 9 months old and still gumming his food.  Charles has upgraded his food, too.  Just yesterday we tried some mini spaghetti stars, and he really liked them!  His big borhter wouldn't attempt them--he still won't eat pasta!  Hence the reason we are making sure Charles is exposed earlier.  Charles also ate a whole half a banana.  He was so cute biting off the end.

Unfortunately, Charles has his first ear infection.  It did wait until he was almost 9 months, so that's good!  No medicines for the boy until now.  Charles' dose is 1 1/2 tsp.  He easily swallows it down.  Whew!  William's current dose it 1/4 tsp, and he spit it out three times.  Better eating habits, and better medicine taking.  That's great, Charles!

Tornado

Charles is all over the place! He crawls so fast to get to whatever he wants. He quickly gets up the stairs to the kitchen to grab cat food. He actually got a taste the other night! He is also trying to stand and can balance himself for a few seconds. And yesterday his nose started running. Not sure if he got a cold or if his teeth are finally going to make an appearance.

king of the world

Charles just climbed the stairs to the kitchen.  He made it all the way to the top without a hitch!  8 months old!  In the three repeat performances, his speed has only picked up.
