Charlie Brown
We went to see the new Peanuts movie in the theaters a few weeks ago. Charles was so excited! He wanted to be Charlie Brown and found his baby toy Snoopy dog to take with him.
First Goal!

Telling stories
Charles: My ear hurts. (flicking his earlobe)
Mommy: Your ear hurts? What happened?
Charles: Someone cut it with a knife.
Mommy: Someone cut it with a knife! Who?
Charles: Nathaniel.
Mommy: Nathaniel? When did this happen?
Charles: Today. Nathaniel came into my kitchen and took out a knife to cut his hair, then he cut my ear.
Mommy: How did he get over here?
Charles: He drived.
Mommy: He drove!?! By himself!?!
Charles: He drived a car by hisself (driving hand motions) like the little boy in Indiana Jones.
He's been telling lots of stories lately. Mostly it is William doing the dirty work: throwing pillows on the floor, scattering crumbs on the floor, pulling all the costumes out of the box, leaving Star Wars figures all over. 😞 Charles is always innocent.

Buckle fracture
After driving for 8 hours on our return trip from SC, we stopped at our cousins' house for a break before the final four hours.
Charles and William bounced on the trampoline with GiGi and Mason, but suddenly Charles started crying--odd for him since he doesn't cry. He said his chest hurt. We iced him and pushed on his bones and didn't feel anything. After a couple of hours, we drove home and went to bed. Charles felt better this morning, but if picked up, he let out an "ouch!" We went to CHOP urgent care to get him checked out.
X-rays were ordered, and the first reading said it was a chest wall contusion. We left, but 20 minutes later, we got a call from the doctor that the x-rays were sent to the radiologist in Philly, and he thought he could see a buckle fracture. Longer discomfort for Charles and no karate for a month.
Side notes: Charles is ornery. When the tech told him he would have to stand very still for his "picture" and then turned away to find his lead loin cloth, Charles started dancing. He was perfect for the actual x-ray, but he does like to ham it up.
He looks really injured in his picture, right? He bounced down the hall after the nurse, and he has been running around and carrying on all day. Crazy boy!

Tree Frog
Second round of tree climbing, and Charles announced, "I am a tree frog!" Daddy asked William if he was a tree frog, and he said, "No, I am a monkey!"

Flying to Heaven
We got word yesterday that Mom-Mom had a very bad set back. I told the boys that she was very sick and we should prepare ourselves that she might go to Heaven. William said, "No! She can't go to Heaven!" I explained that she is very old and has lived a long life, and that it will be ok. She will go be with God and Jesus. I also said she will be with MeMa who is in Heaven waiting for her." Charles then said, "Mom-mom can't fly. You fly to Heaven and Mom-Mom can't fly. Jesus can fly. Jesus will help her."

States
Charles has been learning the states at school, and he found our map puzzle upstairs. He has been studying it and asking about the states. Somehow he knows Mickey Mouse lives in California (even if our California is lost off our map), and he surprised me this morning by pointing to Kansas (without me saying it was Kansas) and saying Kansas is Wizard of Oz. I'm blown away!

Carrots and Thomas
For Easter this year, I took out my little terra cotta pots for serving hummus with baby carrots. I was able to get the boys to taste the hummus, and "yay!" they like it! In fact, Charles could be said to love it. He now asks for it by name, begging for "carrots and Thomas" for snacks. He says, " I really like Thomas."

Professor Charles
Charles was given a hand me down suit, but we had not put it in him as there has not been an occasion for one. I had left it on the ottoman in Charles's room until I could decide whether to donate it or not. Well, Charles found it tonight and put it on saying he is Indiana Jones as the professor. So cute!

Push the baby
Charles was singing a new song, " Push the baby. Push the baby." It sounded familiar, but when he whispered "Push it!" complete with the motions from the Geico commercial that has Salt-N-Pepa singing their song, I realized what he really was singing! Oh, that crazy, funny boy!

Kristoff and Anna
Charles loves to pretend he is Kristoff and I am Anna, so we have a new app where we really can be the characters!

Captain America
Charles is all about pretending to be characters and going all out to dress like them. First, it was Indiana Jones with his hat, gun, and "rope." Then it was Kristoff. There was no costume for that one, but I was Anna, and Charles did point out the same silver stripe in my hair that Anna has in hers. Now it is Captain America. He was ecstatic when Daddy brought home the helmet and shield. He had to carry his bear to karate practice and he rounded up his friend Iron Man.

Best friend
This morning, after heating up red pancakes for Cat in the Hat day at Charles's school, Charles announced, "Mommy, you're my best friend!"

Indiana Jones
Charles watched Indiana Jones on tv last week. This morning, Charles was ecstatic to find our box set of movies, so this afternoon, he selected the one he wanted to watch (Raiders of the Lost Ark) and then began dressing himself as Indiana Jones. Now he asks us his name--and we are to answer "Indiana Jones."
Oh--he also has a horse. And I'm the bad guy.

Mr. Grinch
Charles got tired of Daddy telling him to sit down and let Mommy cut his nails. Daddy told him, "Alright, no chocolate Twizzlers for you." Charles, in his mini rage, turned and yelled at Daddy, "argh! You are Mr. Grinch!!!"
Veruca Salt
Charles has discovered the movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Today, he ran all over the house singing Veruca Salt's theme, "I don't care! I want it now!"
