He is also a true little boy: fearless and energetic in every way! This past Monday, he jumped off the bed, missing the pillow for which he was aiming, and hurt his leg. He favored his right leg, limping on it and twisting himself so his right hip was behind. We called the doctor and Granddaddy for opinions and then watched him for improvement. By the afternoon, he was having a dance party.
Thursday, we took the boys to Sesame place, and Charles loved his first visit! He rode all the little rides, bounced happily in Ernie's bounce bed, watched Elmo's World Live with fascination, and splashed in the wading pools. He nervously but happily ride the giant raft on the rubber ducky slide, and drifted on the lazy river. He was very excited to see Ah-Ah-Ah's water park (better known as the Count) but he would not go in. He seemed to want to stay clear of the giant bucket of water that empties out every five minutes.
Charles has started going to the potty and excitedly runs to his groggy potty when prompted. After he tee-tees, he jumps off the potty with his little naked self and runs to hide in the sheets of the twin bed in his room.
Friday night, while reading our bedtime stories, Charles grabbed my knee from his crib and used it for the needed leverage to pull himself out of his crib. He crawled in the twin bed next to William. William fell asleep, but Charles would not, so I put him back in his crib. I needed to get downstairs to work on his birthday cake. A minute later, who came down the stairs? Charles had escaped! He proudly to his Daddy, "I got out!" Daddy tried to put him back, but he crawled out of his crib even faster! They finally locked themselves away in our bedroom until Charles drifted to sleep. So not good!
Last night, Charles again crawled out of his bed, but he did fall asleep in the twin. I moved him back to his crib to keep him from rolling out of bed, but I know bedtimes are going to be tough now!
We had Charles' birthday party yesterday. It was train themed, and our house was the train complete with dining car, parlor car, and baggage claim. The children danced to train music, made engines, played pin the caboose on the train, and played with model trains while wearing their own engineer hats and bandanas and blowing on their wooden train whistles.
